Most Maya textiles are made using this technique. This loom produces a piece with 4 perfectly finished edges. The piece has a determined width, which the artisan can handle, so it will be necessary to join several pieces until reaching the desired width to make the huipil.
This technique allows the weaver to let her imagination soar. Its design is so characteristic that one can tell where a woman is from just by looking at the huipil she is wearing.
